Blackrock and Terenure come out on top.
With the schools season over for another year, Blackrock and Terenure can celebrate, having won the Senior Cup and Junior Cups respectively.
Blackrock stated their intentions early on by defeating CBC Monkstown 43-6 and humiliating their old rivals St Michaels 47-7. Belvedere proved stiffer competition in the semi-final, eventually going down 16-12. In the final Terenure were looking to repeat their JCT's victory over Blackrock five days earlier, however Blackrock's two tries to Terenure's none gave Blackrock victory by 18 points to 9.
Terenure had to work hard for their Junior Cup win. A narrow 17-13 win over Belvedere in the first round, was followed by a somewhat more comfortable 26-7 win over Kilkenny. They met Blackrock in the semi final and won 17-11. The final, against St Michaels was a low scoring affair. The only try of the game giving Terenure victory by 5-3.
In other competitions Kilkenny College defeated Wesley 25-17 to take the Vinnie Murray Cup , however Kilkenny's juniors were beaten 19-6 by Roscrea in the Fr. Godfrey cup final.
Clongowes comfortably took the senior plate 36 -3 against Newbridge College, scoring five tries along the way. In the Section Senior league final Newpark took the trophy by defeating Wilson's Hospital 24-3.In the Junior Shield final Colaiste Lorcain beat Sandford Park 12-0.
A closely fought Senior development Shield final saw St Davids score 20 to Malahide CS 15 to take the win.
Earlier in the season the Dundalk Grammmar School beat CBS Enniscorthy 21-3 to take the Senior Development Cup and Colaiste Lorcain Castledermot took the Junior Development Cup by beating St Mary's Drogheda by 38 points to 5. The Duff cup was won by St Patrick's Navan and the Mc Mullen cup was won by Newpark by the narrowest of margins (11-10 against St Columba's).
